Had a good time at this Burmese restaurant on Monday evening with a friend around 6 pm! They have either walk ins or you can reserve through OpenTable. My friend went ahead and got us a table while I was heading over. Nice interior that's classy and luxurious. Great vibes and it steadily got busier throughout the night. We ordered family style: - Hawker Garlic Noodles: great portion of noodles that were savory with a semi-strong flavor profile of garlic. Great medley of vegetables. - Wok Caramelized Cabbage: interesting flavor profile from the burnt char making it bitter with a sweet glaze from the sauce at the bottom of the dish - Mango Lassi: sweet, acidic from the lime, and refreshing - Burmese Fried Chicken: good portions of 2 chicken pieces that was juicy, crunchy, and succulent Great Burmese place

Came here with a reservation and a group of 3 and got seated immediately. Good: - The ambiance was great, it's a beautiful interior and good for catching up with friends - The garlic noodles were a surprise hit of the day! Surprisingly flavorful - The tofu green curry also had a lot of flavor - The roti is always my favorite, so chewy and the sauce elevates the taste Bad: - The tea leaf salad didn't have as much flavor as I thought, at least it's larger in portion size than the ones at other Burma love locations Overall this was a decent experience, good for catching up. More on the $$$ side.

Fabulous! Absolutely fabulous! Super cute place! Excellent service! Food was outstanding! Loved the eggplant side dish and the pork belly entree! Both were amazingly delicious. Short walk from the opera house.

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal at Teakwood when we came on a weeknight in late August. I made a reservation two days before coming and we were able to get a reservation at 6:30 pm on a Thursday night. The restaurant is located in Hayes Valley on a busy street. We came in a little earlier than our reservation time and were seated immediately. Our waiter was welcoming and efficient. The ambiance here is chic and trendy. We ordered four dishes to share between us, including the plata, garlic noodles, khao soi, and the popiah. I'm ethnically Burmese and grew up eating Burmese food, so I recognized traditional dishes on the menu. However, Teakwood is a modern Burmese restaurant, much more so than its sister restaurant, Burma Love. So if you're looking for very traditional Burmese food, you won't find it here, but you'll get a very good meal.

The ambiance of this place is so nice. It has relatively dark lighting. Nice formal looking inside, perfect for celebrating an anniversary or birthday or even just for fun. The service was also great! The servers all were nice and greeted us with large smiles and even joked around a bit. Not to mention it was my birthday so they brought out an extra free scoop of coconut ice cream. The food was great, but a little on the oily side. The green curry especially but I loved how much eggplants veggies and tofu they added to it. The chicken satay was fire. So juicy and marinated so well. The firey tofu was also jam packed with flavor and lots of bell peppers. The dessert we got was the mango sticky rice which wasn't my favorite because instead of fresh mango and warm rice it was a cold mango sorbet over cold rice and wasn't as enjoyable.

After being a longtime fan of the Burma Love enterprise, I ventured out to try Teakwood -- their sleeker, more upscale sister restaurant. The ambiance is bright and airy, and the restaurant itself is huge. For food, we got the tea leaf salad, the eggplant with chili and garlic, and the Burmese fried chicken. We also got a side of coconut rice. The tea leaf salad was so fresh and layered, somehow miles better than what I've had at other Burmese restaurants, including Burma Love. The eggplant was incredible -- maybe one of the best eggplant preparations I've had so far. The eggplant was tender and soaked in sweet, spicy, garlicky sauce. We also loved the Burmese fried chicken, mostly because of the delicious dipping sauce it came with. The chick itself was very crisp and cooked to perfection. The service here was a bit lacklustre, albeit kind. They sat us in a corner of the restaurant and kind of forgot about us towards the end -- we waited 30 minutes between when we finished eating and when we paid. Just a call-out for those who are bothered by this.

This place was a recommendation from a friend and it turned out so well! A part of the Burma Love group, the place was almost empty when we entered on a weekday for lunch. We were seated quickly and ordered their Bento box along with some extra sides. The box itself had their Tea Leaf Salad, Samosas, Jasmine Rice and a main dish. We got the Fiery Tofu and Green Curry vegetarian in the two boxes. Plus we got some Garlic noodles on the side. The bento box is certainly more food than either of us could eat. And everything was perfect! The taste, flavors and freshness were amazing. The noodles were great too. The food arrived quickly and was great. We also got their chocolate lava cake with Ube icecream and it was yummy. Overall, good food, great service and a perfect upscale ambience. The restaurant is a must visit if you love Burmese food like we do! And yet, no crazy wait times like their other restaurants.
